Tesla

Tesla makes the Powerwall home battery, a compact storage system with an integrated solar inverter. Powerwall 3 stores solar or grid energy to power a home day and night and during outages.

The Tesla Powerwall 3 is a home battery with an integrated solar inverter, released in September 2023. It stores energy from solar or the grid for use during the day, at night, or during an outage. Tesla backs it with a 10-year warranty.

Energy Capacity and Power

The Powerwall 3 holds an energy capacity of 13.5 kWh. One unit can power an entire home, including a heater or air conditioner. Tesla designs the battery to store solar energy or recharge from the grid when utility prices are low.

The Powerwall 3 delivers 11.5 kW of continuous on-grid power. It also delivers 11.5 kW of continuous backup power during an outage. The integrated solar inverter reduces parts count and speeds installation.

Durability and Warranty

Tesla covers the Powerwall 3 with a 10-year warranty. The battery is built to withstand extreme weather and harsh environments with minimal service. It can maintain normal operation in cold temperatures, high humidity, and flooding in two feet of water.

With Heat Mode the Powerwall heats itself to maintain charge and discharge performance in temperatures as low as minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit. Storm Watch charges the battery to maximum capacity ahead of forecast severe weather. This keeps a home powered when an outage occurs.
