How to read this comparison

Every figure below comes from the manufacturer's own datasheet or announcement for a named model: the SunPower Maxeon 6 (SPR-MAX6) and the Panasonic 410W EverVolt module. Efficiency and wattage are stated at standard test conditions for both, so they compare directly. Temperature coefficient matters in hot climates because it describes how much power a panel loses as it heats up, and warranty length varies a lot between these two brands. Model years change, so confirm against the current datasheet for the exact model in a quote.

SunPower Maxeon 6 (from the Maxeon datasheet)

The Maxeon 6 datasheet lists the panel at 425 to 440 W with panel efficiency up to 22.8 percent. Its cells are described as 66 monocrystalline Maxeon Gen 6 cells, the interdigitated back contact design that places contacts on the rear of the cell.

On heat, Maxeon lists a power temperature coefficient of -0.29 percent per degree Celsius. On warranty, the datasheet lists 40 years of product, performance, and service coverage when installed by a Maxeon Partner, with a standard 25-year product and performance term otherwise. It states a minimum warranted output of 98.0 percent in year one and a maximum annual degradation of 0.25 percent.

Panasonic EverVolt 410W (from the Panasonic announcement)

Panasonic lists its 410W/400W EverVolt module with efficiency ratings of 22.2 percent and 21.6 percent respectively. The module is comprised of 66 half-cut cells and heterojunction technology with gapless connections.

On heat, Panasonic cites an industry-leading temperature coefficient of 0.26 percent per degree Celsius. On warranty, Panasonic lists 25 years when installed by a Panasonic Authorized, Premium, or Elite installer, and guarantees power output of at least 92 percent in the 25th year after installation.

Where they differ on paper

The cell technology differs at the core. SunPower's Maxeon 6 uses interdigitated back contact monocrystalline cells, while Panasonic's EverVolt uses heterojunction cells. Both are premium N-type approaches with different physics behind them.

On peak efficiency, the Maxeon 6 datasheet lists up to 22.8 percent against the Panasonic module's 22.2 percent at 410 W. On heat, the two are close: Maxeon lists -0.29 percent per degree Celsius and Panasonic lists 0.26 percent per degree Celsius, both describing how output falls as temperature rises.

The warranty is the widest documented gap. SunPower lists up to 40 years of coverage through a Maxeon Partner install, while Panasonic lists 25 years. Both guarantee a similar floor at that mark, with Maxeon holding to 0.25 percent annual degradation and Panasonic guaranteeing at least 92 percent output in year 25.
